Rev. Dr. Matthew I. Ayars

PhD University of Chester/St. John’s College (UK); M.A., Wesley Biblical Seminary; B.A., Asbury College (now University).

Matt is married (Stacey) and has two daughters (Lily and Sofia).  His work at SBEH began in August 2007 as an Associate Professor of Old Testament. In preparing for ministry at SBEH in Haiti, Matt and Stacey lived in Quebec, Canada from January-April 2007 to study French.  In July 2010, Matt was named the Vice-Rector at SBEH and in July 2012 he was named the Rector of SBEH.

Taught Courses: Biblical Hebrew, Bible Translation Analysis, Old Testament Prophets, Isaiah, Psalms, 1 Samuel, Psalms, Introduction to the Old Testament, Introduction to Biblical Thought, Inductive Bible Study and Romans.

Research Interests: Masoretic Studies, OT Theology, Biblical Theology, Literature and Theology of Isaiah, Literary Criticism, Hebrew Poetry and linguistic dynamics of Hermeneutics.
